Dontay Brown, age 23, of Poughkeepsie, died on Sunday, June 4 during the fight. His roommate, Andrew Alex Fraser, age 32, has been charged with his murder.

Originally from Jamacia, friends, and family members are working to bring Dontay home to his family through a GoFundMe effort organized by Holford Brown.

"We are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts and a sense of urgency to seek your support in a time of immense grief and tragedy," Brown said.

Brown said that Dontay, the son of Halford Brown, has always been a beacon of joy and light in the lives of those around him.

"His infectious smile, compassionate nature, and unwavering determination touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him," he said.

He went on to say that Dontay's potential was boundless, and he had dreams of achieving great things in life.

Dontay's family is currently facing the arduous task of bringing their beloved son back to Jamaica, where he will be laid to rest in the land he held dear.

However, the financial burden associated with repatriation, funeral arrangements, and other necessary expenses is overwhelming for them.

"That is why we are appealing to your generous hearts and asking for your support through this GoFundMe, Brown said.

All donations will go towards covering the costs associated with repatriating Dantay's remains, including transportation, legal procedures, funeral arrangements, and other related expenses.

"Our collective support will provide some relief to his grieving family and help them focus on the mourning process and healing during this difficult time," Brown added.

Brown said even the smallest donation can make a difference.

"Together, we can alleviate the financial burden that Dontay's family is facing and help them honor his memory in a befitting way," he said.
